Tim Tebow to be given the pink slip? Not unless the Jets can find a trading partner for him. A report came out yesterday stating that instead of trying to release Tim Tebow, the Jets want to get something for him.
Now, in all honesty, who is going to be crazy like the Jets and actually attempt to trade for Tebow? Look, I like Tebow. He’s a hard worker, and a great person.
But when you bring in Tebow, you have to expect a cult-like following. Trading for Tebow would force that team to make him the starter, considering how many rumors were swirling with the Jets this year.
And if he starts, and succeeds, the team has to expect Tebow to get all the coverage and credit. Does a team want all that for a guy who can’t complete 50% of his passes? I don’t think so. Tebow is a leader, and a proven winner.
But all the other factors go against giving him another shot. Mike Tannenbaum is the man who pushed for Tebow, and now new Jets GM John Idzik will have to deal with that problem.
